Frequently Asked Questions
Is Pivot Shift a replacement for Google Calendar or Outlook?
No. Pivot Shift is an operational overlay for combined calendar visibility, roster imports, workload awareness, and alerts. Your external calendars remain their own source of truth.
Does Pivot Shift modify Google Calendar?
No. Google access is read-only. Editing a Google event in Pivot Shift creates a Pivot overlay; hiding it creates a Pivot-only suppression record.
Why does a hidden Google event not return during sync?
Sync respects your hidden-event choices. Select Restore to remove the suppression record. Pivot Shift confirms the event still exists in Google before making it visible again.
Why are all-day events not counted as work hours?
All-day items often represent leave, reminders, travel, or placeholders. They remain visible but are normally excluded from workload calculations.
What is a source?
A source represents a workplace, organisation, personal stream, or connected calendar. Each source can have its own colour, category, profile, and events.
Can I use Pivot Shift events in another calendar app?
Yes. Copy the private URL from Calendar subscription and subscribe to it from a compatible calendar app. The feed is read-only.
What should I do if Google asks me to reconnect?
Select Reconnect Google Calendar and complete the Google permission flow. You do not need to sign out of Pivot Shift.
Are fatigue alerts medical advice?
No. They are planning aids and do not replace clinical advice, fitness-for-work assessment, or workplace policy.
How do I get support?
Email tech_support@pivotshift.org with the approximate time, action, and error message. Never include passwords, payment-card details, or private calendar-feed URLs.
